Any good site for solved puzzles.can any one give a soln for the following qn.??

these r some of the infosys old qns. can anyone explain a solution for them??

1. A ten digit number whose first digit is the number of ones, second digit is the number of twos, third digit is the number of threes, fourth digit is the number of fours, fifth digit is the number of fives, sixth digit is the number of sixes, seventh digit is the number of sevens, eight digit is the number of eights, ninth digit is the number of nines and tenth digit is the number of zeros. what is that digit.

2.If a large cube painted red from out side , if it cut into 125 equal part by six straight lines, then how many cubes were there with

(a) no face painted

(b) only one face painted

(c) only two faces painted

(d) three faces painted

What is the probability that the 125 cubes taken at random is red.

As for the cube, I don't understand the cutting with only 6 cuts. If you cut the cube into smaller cubes, you would divide each edge into 3 segments and end up with 27 cubes altogether.

If you use 12 cuts total, you get 125 small cubes.

Each face of the cube would be divide in to 25 parts, each edge into 5 parts.

In that case, there would be 8 corners with 3 faces painted, 12 edges with 3 non-corner pieces per edge for a toal of 36 edge pieces with 2 sides painted.

Each of the 6 faces would have 3x3 non edge pieces so 54 with on face painted and the interior cube 3x3x3 = 27 with no paint.

8 + 36 + 54 + 27 = 125

The odds that a cube take at random has red paint on it is 98/125.
Reply:honestly its to much mental arithmetic, but i will get you on your way

as far as 3 faces painted...occurs only at a corner, so 4

for one face painted it will me the middles...so 24

for two faces painted it will be all the edges...so 24

for no faces, i would go with 73

and for probability that any of them is red is 0 because none of the cubes are fully red

this is all mental arithmetic so there is a possibility of mistake
