What do you fan boys think of my fan fiction on how I would have had the Punisher in Spiderman film 1st???

wanted to put this here because people who liked Spiderman 2 and hated 3, your opinions mean alot to me whether you hate it or like my idea for how Spiderman 3 should have went. I'm open to anything you have to say to me.

This is the way SPiderman 3 should have went in my eyes. Not only is this my version of Spiderman 3, but it's also my version of a true Punisher reboot. This movie would have been the first to ever feature the comic book character, The Punisher before he is in his own movies since he began as a SPiderman sub character. So here it is. The plot would be Peter is trying to think of a way to propose to MJ. While walking throuch Central park one night, a comit hits about 5 miles away. Peter goes to investegate. The symbiot sneeks into his backpack. Then he goes to see MJ's new play. After it is done, everyone apllaus with joy at her performance and him and MJ go back stage to plan a dinner. After that, on his way home in the alley, Peter gets ambushed by Harry in his Green Goblin costume. Underestimating SPiderman, Harry gets defeated and is badly injured. Peter goes home and sleeps and that when the symbiot merges into him. Next morning, police sirens go off and we cut to the next scene where 2 criminals are running through a house thats abandoned. It is revealed that they are running from a guy in a one peice black armored suit with a white skull on his chest and wearing white combat boots with white gloves(Punisher's classic suit). One guy bails out a window and the other gets caught up by Punisher. As P is about to extract private justice on the man, the floor breaks beneath the criminal and he falls to the first floor conveantly(spelling) in front of the cops. Peter goes into work and is introduced to a new employee. A big muscled bound man named Eddie Brock. As with Harry, he is now building a new amor suit and upgrading weapons while recovering from a broken leg. He wants vengence on SPiderman. However, he realizes he might not have to do the deed directly. With the military connections he has, he goes to an ex specail op who recommends him a number to a man named micro chip. Harry comes up with a plan to incriminate SPiderman to make it look legit. He sends info that SPiderman has been using his status of trust from the city to undergoe his own enterprise and take money from charities and banks. Micro chip sends all this information to The Punisher. Next night, police sirens go off and Peter chooses his new black outfit to go fight crime. Since this black outfit brings out the ungliness in him, he beats 3 criminals nearly to death. Acting out of character, he retreats to a side of a skyscrapper to look at the engagement ring that he wants to give to MJ. Thinking about what is happening to him, a gun shot goes off. A bullet misses his head by inches. Followed by an arsonall of gun fire, SPiderman leaps around for safety. He goes to a roof top, but not to his knowledge, triggers off a nearby anti personel mine. It explodes and the force knocks SPiderman on his back leaving him disoriented. He sees a figure appraoch him with a gun fixing on his head. He says, "who are you?!" SPiderman's senses go off allowing him to dodge an oncomming bullet and he sweaps the man on his back and flings a web at him. "Look buddy! I don't know what your game is but you need a time out!" Quickly, The Punisher shoots SPiderman with a dart coated with a lethal venom which because of SPiderman's body chemestry, only weakens him to a normal human strength which aloows the Punisher to undergo hand to hand combat with SPiderman in which he wipes the floor with the inexperienced kid. Then the venom wears off and at full strength, SPiderman punches the Punisher 15 feets away from him. The 2 not being able to out do eachother, part ways that night. In work, Peter and Eddie are trying to get a story from a man who knows the wearabouts of a psychopathic killer(not the punisher). Peter recommends that Eddie just take the story and shows him who to go to(not knowing the man he directs him to is just a blabbering idiot). After Eddie gets the story, Joan Jameson wants the story of a New York vigilanty covered and also finds out that the coverage Eddie comes up with is fake and has him fired. Eddie hating PEter for is direction will play a part in the 4th where it is Eddie's ark when he finds out A: he has cancer, B: his father disowns him, and C: he comes in contact with the symbiot. When The Punisher spots Spiderman again…. The two square off in an even longer battle. This time, (Nod to the comic book), the Punisher has constructed a device which are attached to his wrists that sling material similar to Spiderman’s web and even manages to return the favor and cocoon him in it. Spiderman breaks out after struggling, and the fight continues. Now however, terrorists have taken over a bridge and are olding people hostage nearby. Spiderman and The Punisher give each other a look which represents a silent temporary truce for them to team up and overtake the terrorists on the bridge and save the innocents. After everyone is saved, Punisher fixes his attention on Spiderman. As he reaches or his gun, a child comes up to the skulled vigilante and grabs his hand. The one that not holding a gun odviously. Looking around him, surrounded by bystanders, gives Spiderman a look basically saying, “Next Time”.Peter, after the fight on the bridge, nearly killed to o the bad guys by beating them severily and realizes that all this bad energy has come from the symbiot. A church bell goes off and Peter sense that the suit is uncomfortable with it. Later that night, Peter comes up with the idea of maybe that can be a way to get rid of the symbiot. He goes to church and hits the bell over and over until the creature seperates itself from him. Then it faster than light, disappears into the darkness (cliffhaner scene for the 4th movie). After all is done, Peter goes to Aunt May. While all this is happening, after what MJ has seen on the news about ho Spiderman and an unknown male in a body armored outfit, saved people on a bridge after a tremendous gun fight. She recongnizes the man from the image caught on fan cam. She saw him at Central Park one day. Just standing in the middle of the playground with a ghostly look on his face. She then does something both brave and on the lines of stupidity and gets herself attacked by a couple of thugs in an alley somewhere and The Punisher comes out and saves her. He then takes her home as she is out of breath and scared by the occurrence. Upon arrival at MJ’s home, Frank sees pictures of Peter and MJ as kids, pictures when they were in highschool. )This is my attempt to connect both Peter and Frank on a personal level. Something Sam Rami failed to achieve with Spiderman and Sandman.) Frank looks at a picture of Peter when he was a young boy. The picture was on MJ’s burea(spelling). It reminds him of his son. As he is leaving the house, MJ stops him mid-way. She confronts him about Spiderman and why this man is out to kill him. (I’m not sure how this scene would play out in terms of dialoge, but it’s a pivotal scene the two share together and it’s when it hits home for Frank that he was being used mearly as a tool by the man who hired him. After that, the next time the 2 meet, Punisher tells him that he has been dooped into believe Spiderman was a criminal and seems to be remorsefull about it at the same time wanting blood from Harry Osborne. Spiderman askes him again, who he is. The man responds, my name is Frank Castle. The 2 team up in order to find Harry who is not at home. Harry has completed his Hob Goblin suit and has captured Joan Jameson and Gwan Stacy(he does'nt catpure MJ because they are friends and does'nt want to put her in harms way. So he goes for other people Peter would want to help.) The climatic battler sequence between SPider/Punisher vs. Hobgoblin would be about 12 minutes of breath taking epic action leaving Harry wounded in the gut by a armor piercing bullet and SPiderman swing kicking him to the ground. As Harry lays there bleeding but survivable, Frank and Spiderman go and rescue Jaon and Gwen who are hangin from a rope 100 feet above the ground. After they have them to safety, Spiderman goes to see if Harry is still alive. As Peter removes Harry's Hobgoblin mask, a sound of a shotgun cock snaps.....

Punisher: Step aside Parker.

Frank’ bloodlust is at a boiling point here.

Spiderman: No!

Punisher: Step aside or ill....

He is interrupted by Peter

Peter: Or you'll kill me?

Punisher looks confused and sorrowfull as to how to react towards the kid..

Peter: It’s now their job.

Looking into the forground. The oncoming police lights.

A look of anger and dread appears on Frank's face.

Peter: To murder makes us no better than criminals who roam the city.

Now at this point, if any1 has the soundtrack to Spiderman 2, the track called “Train/Appreciation” at the 2:10 minute marker where Danny Elfman’s score could be used for a sad emotional scene as well. Just imagine that playing as Frank explains his story to Peter.

Frank: It wasn’t always like this. I didn’t want this. I had a family once. Twelve years ago, they were gunned down by the Gambino brothers after a mob hit went down in Central Park while we were celebrating my return from my tour of duty in Desert Storm. It was random. I should have died too. Took enough bullets. I awoke from a coma 3 weeks later to find out my wife Maria and daughter Janice were pronounced dead on the scene and Frank Jr, my son, died later in the ER. I was told the police had the men in custody and were waiting for me to regain full strength to testify. When the time came, I gave my testimony. But the judge let them off on a technecality. I snapped. I realized the judicible systems that was designed to protect us is flawed and inadequate(spelling). That night, I payed the Gambinos a visit and made sure they never saw the light of day again. I doned this skull as a symbol of death and a way to distract enemies from shooting vital places. White and black. Both mean death. I promise to deliver. I don't expect you to understand the gravity of the situation.

Flashes of Peter’s Uncle now appears as he thinks of how he wanted nothing but to kill the man responsible for taking Uncle Ben away.

Peter: I can uderstand. I lost an Uncle. He was like a father to me

Frank: Although, under false pretences, I tried to kill you. I'm not expecting you to forgive me. It was horrible. I'm sorry.

Peter: I do forgive.

Frank: I owe you this much. I wont stand in your way in taking your friend to the authorites. Maybe the system this time wont fail.

Peter gives him a nod of graditude.

MJ leaves Peter’s side to go confront Frank who is walking away into the night.

MJ: Wait!!!!!

Frank stops and looks back.

MJ: You were given a second chance. Frank.

Frank: Frank Castle is dead. He died with his family. I am The Punisher.

Peter comes to MJ’s side. MJ teary eyes, now solks on Peter’s shoulder as the police come to take Harry away.

It's pretty good. I'd be interested in reading more. You could probably flesh it out a bit with some more dialogue and detail in descriptions of the settings where the scenes take place, etc. or get somebody to do it for you.

I always thought the lizard was going to be in 3 but maybe he'll be in part 4, with carnage and the black cat.

If I throw a glass at a brick wall with sufficient force?

it will break and fall to the ground in pieces. I

can predict this outcome with near certainty, because the cause and its almost invariable effect

are well known. But no-one can predict with any kind of certainty the number or shape of the

fragments into which the glass will break, or explain afterwards why it shattered in the particular

way that it did. So whereas the fact that the glass breaks has a clear and obvious cause, the

particular way in which it shatters has no cause at all: it is completely random.

Which of the following is the best expression of the flaw in the reasoning?

A Being able to predict something does not mean that I know what caused it to happen.

B Knowing the cause of something does not mean that it is certain to happen.

C Being able to predict something if I know its cause, does not mean that if I can't predict it it

has no cause.

D Knowing what has always happened in the past does not mean I can predict what will

happen in the future.

If I throw a glass at a brick wall with sufficient force?
Justification

The key is C.

The argument goes too far in claiming that my inability to predict an outcome means it has no cause.

The most that follows from the argument is that I don’t know its cause. C identifies this fallacious

claim. None of the others identifies claims made in the passage.

Distractors

A The argument does conclude that I know the cause from my ability to predict.

B There is no claim that any event is certain to happen because its cause is known.

D This would be a flaw if the argument drew such a conclusion, but it does not.
Reply:The flaw in your reasoning is that it's not random. The glass will break in a certain way. While that way may not be particularly easy to deduce, it is possible if one were to examine the stress microfractures throughout the object and do a very complex structural analysis. It would take a substantial knowledge of Physics to do such a thing, but it is by all means possible.

There are very few things in this world that are truly random. The roll of a dice is merely a function of its initial position in someone's hand coupled with the forces enacted upon it by the surrounding system. Flipping a coin is exactly the same. Computers, incapable of producing random numbers, run an assigned number (called the "seed") through an equation designed to give thousands or millions of different results before repeating. If you know the seed, equation, and number of iterations, you know exactly what numbers will come up.

But I digress. From what I can tell, the answer you're looking for is A.
Reply:E. Glass comes in all densities and breaks differently, no matter how hard you throw it.

D is good
Reply:a,b,c,d are too vague to be considered answers. They are philosophical and not of science. The answer lies within the realms of geometry.

Problem with math quesiton?

a) A class has 12 boys and 4 girls. Suppose three students are selected at random from the class. Find the probability P that they are all boys using Multiplication theorem for conditional probability.

(b) Using the Pigeonhole Principle find the minimum number of researchers required in a research project to be sure that at least ten will receive the same sub-topic, if there are nine possible sub-topics A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I.

Problem with math quesiton?
The prob of the first being a boy is 12/16

the prob of the second being a boy is 11/15

and that of the third being a boy is 10/14

of all being boys is these multiplied together

ie 12/16 x 11/15 x 10/14 = 11/28

Hope this answers your question I don't understand the second question

Girl guy interested in eachother, but we both in a relationship, what should we do?

ok. So i always liked this grl that was in most of classes in past semesters. This yr we startd talkn. She got my number and wanted to hang out sometime during the semester, i was all for it. So i was with my frineds and told her to meet me at this bar. She came with her other friend and wwe started talking. She gave me random compliments at the start. Then she said your so cute, if i ddidn't have a bf i would pursue you so fast. I told her i would do the same if i didnt hav a gf. We danced throughout the night and she became more aggressive. Started to pull my hair, squeeze my arms, and at one point bite my neck. she started saying how she hates me becasuse im making her think about things, and she even said she was dreaming bout me a few days back. we talked outside several times about our situations and what she should do. She said im a great guy and she never really thought about dating someone else because she is ustual her bf for the 1 yr 4 mths they been goin out. I told her to take a break from him and figure things out and go out with me and c. she said its really hard because ....she lives with him. she said she loves him but hasnt really touched on diff relationships. idk wat to do, i've never met such a real grl like her, thats why she drives me crazy. She has had a crush on me for some time now, but y tell me now who knows? the way she acted round me with constant im sorry for any lil thing, as if she thought i wouldn't like her if she isn't perfect. Really dont know what to do, we will talk cuz we r both interestd in eachother..guys/grls detaild advice

Girl guy interested in eachother, but we both in a relationship, what should we do?
You should both evaluate your current relationships. Be honest with your partners - sit down with them and discuss where your relationships are heading to. Feel your hearts - do you still love her or the girl loves her live-in partner? Is there reason enough to let go off an existing relationship so you can be with your new found love interest? Are you sure you are in love with the girl you said you are crazy about? Or it may just be infatuation because she is aggresive and she's giving you the motive?

Take time to know the new girl better and her to know you. Don't rush yourselvers. Hold on to your feelings, control your emotions. Sometimes, you mistake infatuation for love. After awhile, when you get to know the person better, the heat dies down and you realize you really aren't in love. And you begin to be sorry for letting go the girl you really treasure.

Just be honest and rational ( tho' its hard to be when your heart wants to run after someone). If you find out you will be better giving up your realtionships and starting a new one together, then go ahead. Everybody deserves to be happy.

Good luck.

a.) (.70)(.70)(.70)(.70)(.70) = .7^5 = .168 or 16.8% chance

b.) (1-.7)=percentage of NOT male customers=.3

(.3)^5=.00243 or .243%

c.) the chance of AT LEAST one = 1 - chance of NONE

So the chance of No Females is the chance of ALL MALES, .168 (part a)

1-.168=.832, or 83.2%

Probability?

In 1998, Mark McGwire of the St. Louis Cardinals hit 70 home runs, a new Major League record. Was this feat as surprising as most of us thought In thethree seasons before 1998, McGwire hit a home run in 11.6% of his times at bt. He went to bat 509 times at bat has apprximately the binomial dstribution with n=509 and p=0.116.

(a) what is the mean number of home runs McGwire wll hit in 509 times at bat?

(b) What is the probability that he hits 70 or more home runs?

(c) In 2001, Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants hit 73 home runs, breaking McGwire's record. This was suprising. n the three previous seasons, Bonds hit a home run in 8.65% of his timesat bat. He batted 476 times in 2001. Considering his home rn counts as a binomial random variable with n=476 and p=0.0865, wat is the probability of 73 or more home runs?

Probability?
Because n is too large, we should use a normal approximation. mean = np=509(0.116)=59.04=59

variance=np(1-p)=509(0.116)(0.884)=52....

Standard deviation s=7.224

b) P(x %26gt; 70) = P( z %26gt; (70-59.04-0.5)/7.224) --- (1)

=P( z %26gt; 1.447)=0.0735 or 7.35 %

Note: A continuity correction 0.5 has been applied in (1).

c)Again, we use a normal approximation

mean =(475)(0.0865)=41.0875=41

variance=(475)(0.0865)(0.9135)=37.533

sd=6.126

P( x%26gt;73) = P( z %26gt; (73-41.0875-0.5)/6.126 )

=P(z %26gt; 5.1) =0 %

Statistics Question?

A nationally distributed college newspaper conducts a survey among students nationwide every year. This year, responses from a simple random sample of 204 college students to the question “About how many CDs do you own?” resulted in a sample mean = 72.8. Based on data from previous years, the editors of the newspaper will assume that = 7.2.

Reference: Ref 6-6

Use the information given to obtain a 95% confidence interval for the mean number of CDs owned by all college students.

a. (65.6, 80.0)

b. (71.8, 73.8)

c. (72.0, 73.6)

d. (72.3, 73.3)

Statistics Question?
the answer is b. here is the work....

Confidence intervals are used to find a region in which we are 100 * ( 1 - α )% confident the true value of the parameter is in the interval.

For large sample confidence intervals about the mean you have:

xBar ± z * sx / sqrt(n)

where xBar is the sample mean

z is the zscore for having α% of the data in the tails, i.e., P( |Z| %26gt; z) = α

sx is the sample standard deviation

n is the sample size

The sample mean xbar = 72.8

The sample standard deviation sx = 7.2

The sample size n = 204

The z score for a 0.95 confidence interval is the z score such that 0.025 is in each tail.

z = 1.959964

The confidence interval is:

( xbar - z * sx / sqrt( n ) , xbar + z * sx / sqrt( n ) )

( 71.81198 , 73.78802 )
Reply:The answer is a. 7.2 is your margin of error so all you have to do is subtract 7.2 from 72.8, and then add 7.2 to 72.8.

Probability problems?

Q)a box contains 2 white balls,3 black balls and 4 red balls. the number of ways in which 3 balls can be drawn from the box so that atleast one of the balls is black is

A) 74

B) 64

C) 94

D) 20

E) 24

Q)A box contain 10 bulbs, out of which 2 are defective. 3 bulbs r choosen at random frm this box.the probability that atleast one of these is defective.

can someone give me the answers and explain how to do such problems?

Probability problems?
Quickest way to count "at least one" is to count how many ways to get 0 and subtract from total ways.

9 total balls, 3 are black, 6 are not. #ways to get 0 is 6C3 = 20, #total ways to choose 3 balls is 9C3 = 84, so #ways at least one black is 84-20 = 64

Bulbs work out similarly. #at least 1 defective = 10C3 - 8C3. So prob = this number divided by 10C3.
Reply:THE FIRST QUESTION IS B AND I DONT KNOW THE SECOND ONE
Reply:q1

2w, 3b, 4r = 9 in all

at least 1 black is needed

more than none black

= 9C3 - 3C0*6C3

= 84 - 1*20

= 64 %26lt;--ans : B

q2

P(defective) = 2/10

P(good) = (10-2)/10 = 8/10

P(at least 1 defective)

= 1 - P(none defective)

= 1 - 8C3/10C3

= 1 - 7/15

= 8/15
Reply:find the number of ways that no balls are black and subtract from the total number of ways

there are 6 balls that are not black

(6*5*4)/3! = 20

the total number of ways is (9*8*7)/3! = 84

84 - 20 = 64

same process.

P (at least 1 is defective) = 1 - P(none is defective)

P = 1 - (8/10)(7/9)(6/8)

P = 8/15
Reply:In the first question you need to know the following.

If you have n objects and chose r of them, the number of combinations is:

n! / ( r! (n-r)! )

this can be written as nCr

there are 9C3 = 84 total ways of getting three balls

there are 6C3 = 20 ways to get three balls without a black ball

answer is 64.

----------------

to get no defects out of the 10 when picking three is:

8/10 * 7/9 * 6/8 = 0.4666667

so to have at least 1 defect is 1 - 0.4666667 = 0.5333333

Tenchi Muyo! (天地無用!, Tenchi Muyō!?), is an anime, light novel, and manga series about a boy named Tenchi Masaki and the alien women who loved him.

The original series, Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki, is a six episode OVA (Original Video Animation or Direct-to-Home Video) series; released in Japan in 1992–93. As its popularity grew, it spurred a seventh episode (also known as the Tenchi Special) and the stand alone Mihoshi Special. In 1994-95, the second OVA series was created and released, featuring episodes 8–13. From 2003 to 2005, a third OVA series was released, with episodes 14–19, centering around the three goddesses introduced in the second OVA series. This is then followed by a special twentieth episode which centered around some of the remaining plot threads towards Tenchi's mother, as well as Noike, who was introduced in episode 15. The series can be somewhat confusing too, due to it having several continuities.

The Tenchi Muyo franchise has a manga series developed after an animated version was released, when typically the reverse is true.

Tenchi Muyo! was one of the early successes for AIC, the animation company behind it, which went on to create El-Hazard, Battle Athletes, Oh My Goddess!, Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure and many other anime series. The main artist for the series is Masaki Kajishima.

The name of the manga is a play on words. Tenchi muyō (天地無用, Tenchi muyō?) in Japanese means "This way up", a phrase written, for example, on boxes to show they should not be upturned. 無用 muyō also means "unnecessary", thus with a lead character "Tenchi" this name could also mean "unnecessary Tenchi", more often translated to "No need for Tenchi" (even so far as the episode titles for the first TV series to have the running gag of having the titles start with "No need for...") The name 'Tenchi' also means 'Heaven (or the sky) and Earth' so one could also take the title to mean "No Need for Heaven and Earth."

[edit] Summary

The three major series continuities are Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki, Tenchi TV/Universe, and Tenchi in Tokyo. The first series, TM!R, is the original OVA (Original Video Animation) which introduces the core characters. Tenchi TV/Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo are spin-offs that utilize the same characters, with the addition of Kiyone Makibi, though the back story is quite different from the original OVAs. The first of the spin-offs was Tenchi Muyo! TV (also known as Tenchi Universe), in 1995; it is a twenty-six episode TV series that retells the original series differently. This anime was one of a few anime to be broadcast on PBS member station KTEH in San Jose, California.[citation needed]

[edit] Tenchi Muyo! OVA series, Kajishima canon

Main article: Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki

The canon accepted by series creator Kajishima is as follows:

Animation

Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVA 1 (episodes 1-6)

Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVA 1 Special, The Night Before the Carnival (episode 7)

Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVA 2 (episodes 8-13 + the bonus episode 13.5)

Various dōjinshi from Kajishima

Various interviews with Kajishima

The book 101 Questions and Answers of Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Oh-Ki (also titled 101 Secrets)

[edit] Tenchi Muyo! OVA series, Hasegawa canon

Naoko Hasegawa, writer of episodes 3 and 5 the first OVA series, uses a different continuity, which includes the following:

Animation

Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki OVA 1 (episodes 1-6)

Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki Galaxy Police Mihoshi's Space Adventure (also known as the Mihoshi Special), though except for the framing sequence, much of the story is as an exaggeration by Mihoshi and is not considered canon.

Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki Manatsu no Eve (Tenchi Muyo! Daughter of Darkness) (movie 2)

Other Materials

Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki Manatsu no Carnival (radio drama)

A series of 13 novels by Hasegawa, including the Manatsu no Eve book upon which the movie was based upon.

A few characters from OVA 2 (episodes 8-13.5), such as Tokimi, Emperor Azusa, and Empress Misaki, make appearances in Hasegawa's novels. However, the episodes and events from OVA 2, as well as episode 7, do not take place in Hasegawa's canon.

Hasegawa also worked on the TV series, which includes her characters Kiyone and (in the movies) Achika, but the TV series is not considered to be in the same continuity.

[edit] Tenchi Universe, a.k.a. the Negishi canon

Main article: Tenchi Universe

Called the "Negishi canon", after Hiroshi Negishi, the director who was the main creative force behind the series and connecting movies, Tenchi Universe (known as Tenchi Muyo! TV in Japan) has no sentient Jurai trees, Ayeka is not closely related to Katsuhito, and Washu is the person sealed in the cave. Kiyone has a major role in this series. Also, this series has a stronger emphasis on Ryoko, as shown in the show's opening credits and in some episodes, as well as Tenchi Forever.

Animation

Tenchi Muyo! TV (Tenchi Universe), 26 episodes

Tenchi Muyo! in Love (movie 1)

Tenchi Muyo! in Love 2: Haruka Naru Omoi (Tenchi Forever!) (movie 3)

Other Material

A manga, also written by Negishi, was produced as a tie in to TMiL2, though it is uncertain if this manga is part of established Negishi canon:

Tenchi Muyo! In Love 2: Eternal Memory (manga)

[edit] Tenchi in Tokyo

Main article: Tenchi in Tokyo

Shin Tenchi Muyo! (known as Tenchi in Tokyo in English), in 1997, is a third version of the story, centered on Tenchi's high school adventures in Tokyo. It is also a twenty-six episode TV series and many of the returning main characters have been portrayed differently with some slight personality changes.

[edit] Movies

There are also three movies: Tenchi Muyo! in Love, Tenchi Muyo! Manatsu no Eve (The Daughter of Darkness) (1997), and Tenchi Muyo! in Love 2: Haruka Naru Omoi (Tenchi Forever!), 1999.

Movies 1 and 3 are intended to be in, and match with, the Tenchi Universe continuity. Movie 3 concludes the Tenchi Muyo! TV (Universe) series.

The continuity of movie 2 is more complicated. It is written by Naoko Hasegawa, who co-wrote the first OVA series and wrote several Tenchi novels in Japanese; the movie is based on one of her novels.

Movie 2 is sometimes believed to be in Tenchi Universe continuity because of the presence of Kiyone and because Ayeka refers to my brother's tree instead of your tree while speaking to Katsuhito. Neither of these are related to Tenchi Universe; Kiyone is present because she originated from Hasegawa's OVA-based novels, and the Ayeka line is a misleading translation. In reality, the movie is an animated version of the Hasegawa novel of the same name, and is part of her continuity. In Japanese, a name or title may be used in some circumstances where English would require a pronoun; saying "brother's tree" to Katsuhito does not mean that her brother is someone other than him. Furthermore, in the Universe series it is never demonstrated that she has a brother.

Tenchi Muyo! in Love (1996)

Tenchi Muyo! in Love was the first of the Tenchi films, taking place within the Universe timeline.

The movie is about how the gang must save Tenchi from utter disappearance by capturing a criminal named Kain, which had traveled back in time to destroy Tenchi's mother, Achika so that Tenchi isn't born to threaten his conquest of Jurai. In order to save Achika and Tenchi, Tenchi and crew travel back in time to the year of 1970 to protect Achika.

Tenchi Muyo! Daughter of Darkness (1997)

Tenchi the Movie 2: The Daughter of Darkness (Manatsu no Eve) is the second Tenchi movie.

The movie is about a girl named Mayuka who appears out of nowhere claiming to be Tenchi's daughter. Ryoko and Ayeka are jealous and/or suspicious, Sasami befriends her, Kiyone and Mihoshi are the same, and Washu suspects something. Mayuka turns out to have been created by the demonic villain Yuzuha, who wanted revenge on Yosho because after befriending Yosho as a child she was banished by Jurai.

Tenchi Forever! (1999)

Tenchi Forever! (Tenchi Muyo! in Love 2) is a continuation of the first TV series (Tenchi Universe) and sequel to the original film.

After a fight between Ryoko and Ayeka, Tenchi runs into the mountains to be seduced by a beautiful woman and disappears. Six months later, he is found with a woman named Haruna and he has forgotten his previous life.

[edit] Manga

The Tenchi manga consists of two series, Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-oh-ki and Shin Tenchi Muyo! (the shin here means new and has no connection to the second television series, Shin Tenchi Muyo) are written by Hitoshi Okuda. They have been released in America as No Need for Tenchi and The All-New Tenchi Muyo!.

Unlike most anime/manga combinations, for Tenchi the anime came first, and the manga is considered non-canon. It is based on OVA series 1 and 2. Since the manga originally began in Japan before the release of OVA 2, the OVA 2 elements are not introduced immediately at the beginning. Because the manga is non-canon, new elements introduced in the manga do not carry over to the anime.

Manga series released in the US:

"No Need for Tenchi" series! (Volumes 1-2, earlier half of volume 3, 4-6, first half of 7, and 8-12.)

"No Need for Tenchi: Magical Girl Pretty Sammy" (Later half of Volume 3, based on the "Pretty Sammy" OVAs. Not thought of as part of the manga storyline)

"No Need for Tenchi: Tenchi in Love" (Second half of Volume 7, based on the first Tenchi movie. Has characters from the Tenchi Universe timeline. Not thought of as part of the manga storyline)

"Tenchi Muyō: Sasami Stories" (A collection or reprint of several of the Sasami related events that happened in the No Need for Tenchi! manga series. However, the book itself is in the new smaller format, and also features bonus comics in the back that were printed over the years. The bonus comics are not thought of as part of the overall manga story.)

"The All-New Tenchi Muyō!" (Volumes 1-10; It continues the No Need for Tenchi! manga, but with a smaller page format. Introduces several new characters that weren't in the original manga.)

[edit] Spin-offs

The first Tenchi spinoff is the Pretty Sammy, the Magical Girl series, a magical girl series where Sasami is the lead character. The first use of Pretty Sammy was in the Tenchi Muyo! Sound File, a Japanese-only music video release. The same animation was used in the ending of the Mihoshi Special. In 1995, a three episode Pretty Sammy OVA series began, where Sasami, who is known as Sasami Kawai, magically becomes Pretty Sammy. The second Pretty Sammy is a TV series (titled in America as Magical Project S), which came out in 1996. This series is a separate continuity from the OVA series. Pretty Sammy also appears in the Mihoshi Special and in an alternate reality sequence in the Tenchi Universe series.

The second is Tenchi Muyo! GXP, which was released in Japan in 2001. The series takes place during the Kajishima version of the OVA continuity, and is set a year after the events of the third OVA series despite being released first chronologically. The main character of this twenty-six episode TV series is Seina Yamada, a friend of Tenchi Masaki who accidentally joined the Galaxy Police. Many characters from Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki make appearances in this series, including the use of Seiryo as a major character and a full-fledged Tenchi Muyo! crossover in episode 17.

Sasami: Mahou Shoujo Club, currently shown in Japan as 2006, is recognized as the third spin-off with Sasami, known here as Sasami Iwakura, as the main character. The animation style here is saccharine compared to the other titles, but the hold over characters from the franchise (particularly Misao of Pretty Sammy) are still fairly recognizable.

Other versions of Tenchi Muyo! are also available as graphic novels, video games and radio dramas.

The series Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure is also thought to be related to the Tenchi Muyo universe, due to the blatant use of the "Lighthawk Wings" associated with the Jurai dynasty in Tenchi Muyo. Mecha Jinv from Dual! appear in Tenchi Muyo! GXP, Kiyone, Ramia, and Misao appear in a brief easter egg cameo in the series' OVA special, and there is much speculation concerning the ancient civilization that the character "D" is from. Kajishima has hinted that Dual! does, in fact, relate to Tenchi Muyo!. The creator of both DUAL! and Tenchi Muyo!, Masaki Kajishima, confirmed that DUAL! is in fact an alternate version of the Tenchi Muyo! universe.

[edit] English adaptations distributor history

The manga is published in English in North America by Viz Communications. In Singapore it is published in English by Chuang Yi as No Need for Tenchi!

Pioneer USA (now Geneon Entertainment) has brought out most of the releases in the USA up to 2002. They released the Tenchi OVA series, the Mihoshi Special episode, both of the Tenchi Muyo! television series, and all three of the Tenchi Muyo! movies. Pioneer USA has also distributed the Pretty Sammy spinoff, with both the Pretty Sammy OVAs and Magical Project S TV series. On DVD the Mihoshi Special is released with Pretty Sammy, not with the rest of the Tenchi series.

OVA1 and OVA2 were released on DVD in the UK in 2004. A single boxset was released in the UK which includes OVA1, OVA2 and the Mihoshi Special.

When first aired in 2000 on Cartoon Network's Toonami in America, Cartoon Network did some editing to the character's lines. The girls (mostly Ryoko) often drink 'tea' throughout the series. However, their 'tea' is often poured and distributed like sake, a Japanese rice wine. Characters often begin to blush, slur their words together, hiccup, and slowly decline in their mannerisms as they chugged down their 'tea.' This was done to prevent backlash from the more conservative American audiences. The delivery of lines from the characters, however, implies that the characters are aware of the double entendre (ex.: "You can't drink THAT kind of 'tea' at school!")

In addition to substituting 'tea' for sake, Cartoon Network also digitally painted swimsuits on several female character to cover up nudity during bathhouse scenes, and carried out extensive edits for language and other adult content, including references to sex, masturbation, and 'peeping'.

FUNimation Productions licensed the second Tenchi Muyo! spinoff series Tenchi Muyo! GXP for distribution in the United States in 2003, and released it in 2004. FUNimation also licensed the third OVA series and released it on DVD starting July 2005. FUNimation has kept most of the original dub voice cast except for Petrea Burchard, who dubbed Ryoko's voice in the Pioneer/Geneon releases. She is replaced by Mona Marshall in the GXP and OVA 3 series.

The creator of Tenchi Muyo!, Masaki Kajishima, named several of the characters after locations in his Okayama Prefecture hometown. [1]

Guardians of Order published an English-language role-playing game based on OVA Episodes 1-13. The game, now out of print due to the expiring of the license, was moderately successful but is mainly of interest for combining many of the design elements that would be incorporated a few months later into the second edition of Big Eyes, Small Mouth and for the insights its writers gave on Tenchi's dilemma.

The Japanese title logo of Tenchi Muyo! makes a cameo appearance as graffiti in issue 1 of the Mark Waid / Alex Ross graphic novel series Kingdom Come, right after Norman McCay leaves Wesley Dodds's funeral and starts walking through the streets.

Lots of harem anime out there. Some older ones are Urusei Yatsura and Love Hina. Ah! My Goddess is also similar in some ways. An ecchi series I like a lot is Amaenadeyo. Just last season there was Nagasarete Airantou, School Days kinda became harem-like near the end -- beware though, this series has a VERY dark ending to it.

Hmm...that's all I can think of at the moment, but there are a lot of 'em out there. Still, these shows are enjoyable.

Need help with Statistics homework. I need someone to walk me through the formula. Thanks!?
Let X be the number of female students in the sample of twenty. X has the binomial distribution with n = 20 trials and success probability p = 0.15.

In general, if X has the binomial distribution with n trials and a success probability of p then

P[X = x] = n!/(x!(n-x)!) * p^x * (1-p)^(n-x)

for values of x = 0, 1, 2, ..., n

P[X = x] = 0 for any other value of x.

this is found by looking at the number of combination of x objects chosen from n objects and then a total of x success and n - x failures.

Or, to be more accurate, the binomial is the sum of n independent and identically distributed Bernoulli trials.

X ~ Binomial( n , p )

the mean of the binomial distribution is n * p

the variance of the binomial distribution is n * p * (1 - p)

the standard deviation is the square root of the variance.

Feds to target Ariz. employers of undocumented workers

Dennis Wagner and Daniel Gonzalez

The Arizona Republic

Oct. 4, 2006 12:00 AM

Federal authorities in Arizona are expected to crack down soon on businesses that knowingly hire undocumented workers, joining a nationwide effort to bust employers most responsible for the job magnet that attracts illegal immigrants to the United States.

Russell "Pete" Ahr, a spokesman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Phoenix, said the agency's worksite enforcement unit has been beefed up to pursue felony charges against those who willfully use unauthorized labor.

"It is active now," Ahr said of the unit. "It is conducting investigations. There are going to be visible results in the foreseeable future. ... We're not fining (companies) anymore. We're going after criminal indictments against the owners." advertisement

During raids, some illegal immigrants are likely to be arrested for deportation. But, Ahr emphasized, ICE agents will not conduct random sweeps to round up undocumented workers. They will use tips and intelligence to identify business operators who purposely violate the law.

Ahr declined to say what industries or types of businesses may be targeted.

The crackdown comes at a time when illegal immigration is a hot political issue, with grass-roots lobbying, election campaigns and congressional feuding over reform.

In December, the Republican-controlled House passed an enforcement-only measure that calls for more border security and mandatory verification of employment documents. A bipartisan Senate bill would enhance enforcement, but it also provides for the legalization of undocumented immigrants who are vital to some U.S. industries.

Congress adjourned last week without taking final action on either measure.

The workplace enforcement effort evolved gradually, with ICE agents in some jurisdictions cracking down on employers as early as 2004. The Department of Homeland Security publicly touted the program in April, when ICE agents arrested seven managers from a pallet-manufacturing company. During raids at company sites in 26 states, including Arizona, 1,187 workers were discovered with false documents.

Since then, the prosecution of employers has accelerated. As of August of fiscal 2006, agents had arrested 668 business owners or managers in the employment of undocumented workers, 525 more than in the seven prior years combined.

Although the increase seems dramatic, the total number of prosecutions remains fractional in an economy with an estimated 4.9 million private employers and 7.2 million undocumented workers. By some estimates, undocumented workers make up 5 percent of the nation's workforce.

Against that backdrop, critics say a smattering of criminal cases suggests political tokenism.

Steven Camarota, director of research at the Center for Immigration Studies, an immigration control organization in Washington, D.C., said President Bush is trying to placate conservative Republicans in hopes they'll accept an amnesty program.

Camarota added that, although he welcomes any enforcement increase, the prosecutions are merely an increase "from nothing to a little."

Do-nothing history

The ICE campaign comes after years of ignoring those who hire undocumented immigrants, largely due to politics.

In the 1990s, administrators at ICE's predecessor, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, tried to shut off the unauthorized labor force in several industries, only to be beaten down. In Nebraska, for example, raids on meatpacking plants, one of the state's key businesses, prompted such a backlash from community and congressional leaders that the INS gave up. The same happened in other states where key industries were targeted.

The pressure from industry, combined with advocacy from civil rights groups opposed to immigration sweeps, virtually eliminated interior enforcement programs.

Brazen violators occasionally were hit with civil sanctions, but ICE officials acknowledge the fines were so insignificant that employers shrugged them off as a cost of doing business.

Enforcement efforts against business owners are hampered by other factors:

• Convictions are difficult to obtain because investigators must prove an employer knowingly hired unauthorized workers.

• ICE agents have been preoccupied with national security. Since 9/11, their top priorities have been identifying potential terrorists and screening employees at airports and other key installations.

The result: In 2002, only 19 business operators nationwide were arrested for immigration violations.

Hot-button issue

If terrorism changed ICE's priorities, it also helped make immigration a hot-button political issue. Suddenly, the Bush administration was withering under criticism. Some complained about the lack of raids to find illegal workers. Others groused about the hypocrisy of targeting immigrants while doing nothing to business owners who profit from them.

Bush has long argued for a comprehensive reform measure that includes border security, interior enforcement and a legalized immigrant workforce.

Advocates on both sides say the ICE campaign was spawned by politics rather than a sincere effort to crack down on employers.

"These are strategies to appeal to a very conservative base," said Michele Waslin, director of immigration policy research for the National Council of La Raza.

Waslin said history has shown that enforcement won't deter illegal immigration because it fails to recognize the need for low-cost labor. Instead, she said, worksite raids spread fear.

Ahr, the ICE spokesman, said that his agency is reversing a long history of lax enforcement and that the job has to be done incrementally. Already, he said, more companies are signing up for a voluntary program that enables them to verify employee documents.

"As more of these criminal cases are made, with the publicity they get, we expect people to say, 'Golly, I might not be next on the chopping block, but I might be next,' " Ahr said. "(Illegal immigration) is driven by the magnet of illegal employment. It's all well and good to bolster the border. But, unless you diminish the magnet, that border effort won't work."

Is this real or fake?

I got an email that was fowarded to me, and I just wanna c if you guys think it's real or fake. I think it's fake, but anyways..Here it is:

During a thunderstorm ...

Beth: Hey Ben! Sup?

Ben: Uhhh ... nothing much about to go to a party ... haha you?

Beth: Haha nice ... uhhh just staying in for the night.

Ben: I have this huge favor to ask you ...

Beth: Yeah ... what?

Ben: Can you please come over and watch my brother for me? I won't be able to go if no one watches him.

Beth: Ughh ... well ....

Ben: Please Beth!

Beth: *Sighs* Alright. I'll be over in a few minutes.

A few minutes later, Beth arrives at Ben's house.

Ben: Hey, thanks so much!

beth: Hehe. No problem. By the way, you look really nice.

Ben: Thanks! Anyways, here's my number. Call me in about an hour and tell me how everything is, okay?

Beth: Alright, bye!

Then Ben left. Beth headed over to Ben's younger brother.

Beth: Hey sport!

John: Hi Beth ... I'm really scared ...

Beth: Awww ... don't be. I'm here. Lets turn on some T.V.

As Beth walked over to the T.V. , the lights suddenly went out. John freaked out and screamed!

Beth: John, it's okay. I have a flashlight. Hold on, one second. Darn it! The flashlight doesn't work! Uhmmm ... okay, okay, lets go up to your brother's room. I think he has an extra one.

John: *mumbles* okay.

As Beth and John headed up towards Ben's room, they heard a creepy laughter that brought chills up their spines.

John: *screams* What was that?!

Beth: John stop doing that. Let me call your brother and ask where the flashlight is.

John: But I didn't ... *Johns voice started to fade away ...*

Beth: Hey Ben! How's the party?

ben: Good, thanks! Listen I got to go. Can I call you in 5 minutes?

Beth: Sure. But where's the flashlight in your room?

Ben: Oh, uhmmm ... it's under my bed, to the left. I think.

Beth walks over to Ben's bed and screams.

Beth: Oh my God!

ben: What happened?!

beth: Oh, hahah. Nothing, I didn't know you had a clown statue in your bedroom. It scared me half to death Especially the bloody knife on its hand. It looks so real! Where did you get it? Did you get it at the Halloween store?

Ben: Beth ... I don't have a clown statue in my bedroom.

The line quickly goes dead. Ben started panicing and raced home as fast as he can. When he got home, he ran into his bedroom, where Beth and Ben were no where to be seen. He saw his brother lying on his bed.

Ben: *rolls his eyes and said to himself* I can't believe Beth would play such an awful trick on me.

He went and sat down at his computer and pulled up myspace. He went into his myspace account and checked his bulletins. I noticed that he had a random new friend. The profile picture was a freaky clown face. That made him freak out a bit. Then he saw that the mysterious clown friend had posted a bulletin called "Clowning Around". Ben opened the bulletin and started to read it. This was the same bulletin that he saw last night! He got freaked out and didn't repost it.

Trembling, he got in his bed, next to his brother and kissed his cheek good night

You can sleep here with me tonight, Sport. Good night.

Suddenly, the figure in the bed turned to ben.

Clown: Now it's your turn.

Ben let out a high pitch screamed and the clown killed him. After the job was done, the clown threw Ben under the bed along with Beth and John.

If you don't repost this in the next 10 minutes, the clown will appear by your bed tonight, while you're sleeping and the same ending will happen to you.

When you repost this "(name of your school's) 'slut list' (dont cry ladies). This isn't a joke

Is this real or fake?
Hey don't be an ****** to Cheerperson.
Reply:Oh come on. Are you for real? This is crap sent by young kids perhaps ninth grade with nothing better to do. It is sad you can't see how stupid this is. IT IS FAKE. So remove the question, your done...

Word problom???

This table shows the results of a poll concerning a new city ordiance.

Poll Result chart

Opinion Number

______________________________________...

strongly in favor 6

Mildly in favor 12

Mildly opposed 28

Strongly opposed 9

No opinion 5

(the word problome)

Assum that the people polled represent a random sample of all the people living in the city. If the total population of the city is 50,000 people, how many people would you expect to be strongly in favor or the ordiance?

(A) 500 residents

(B) 5000 residents

(C) 10,000 residents

(D) 15,000 residents

Word problom???
6/60 = x/50,000

x = (6)(50000) / (60) = 5000

So your answer would be (B) 5000 residents
Reply:question poorly worded.

6 out of 60 were strongly in favor (1 out of 10)

so I would say "b" which is 1/10 of 50,000
Reply:That's two different ways to get the same answer, both of which assume there were 60 people in the sample. But all you can do is to add up the answers to arrive at the sample population, since they question doesn't really say.
Reply:B
Reply:Answer=B

6/60= 10%

10% of 50,000= 5,000
Reply:B) 5000

6 out of 60 people were strongly in favour. This is 10%

(6÷60)X100 = 10%

10% X 50 000

= 0.1 X 50 000

= 5000

That gives you the answer of 5000 people.

Hypothesis Tests (Chi stastitic)?

Hypothesis Test (Chi Statistic)?

A study of the effects of the alphabetical listing of candidates in Irish elections obtained the following data. Test the null hypothesis that the candidates are random draws from all registered voters, without regard for surnames. Conduct a similar test of the null hypothesis that those elected are randomly drawn from all candidates without regard for surname.

A-C .203 91 47

D-G .179 63 32

H-L .172 59 23

M-0 .253 75 22

P-Z .194 47 20

The first column gives the fraction of the Irish voters who voted for those last names. The Second gives the number chosen as candidates, and the last how many were elected. I just need help with the first part.

Were the candidates chosen at randomn or not.

Hint: it will probably be helpful to transform the table into a cross-tabulation before analyzing the data.

Hypothesis Tests (Chi stastitic)?
As much as I prefer to write out the how's and whys of statistical testing, Wikipedia did a wornderful job with the chisquare test for independence. Here are two links to the how and why we use this this test.

for the candidates I get

Chi-squared test for given probabilities

data: candidates

X-squared = 16.7164, df = 4, p-value = 0.002194

for the elected I get

Chi-squared test for given probabilities

data: elected

X-squared = 17.3194, df = 4, p-value = 0.001675

===

in both cases the very low p-values indicate we should reject the null hypothesis and conclude that no, the candidates and the elected members are not chosen at random.

So confused about this girl in my college wtf?? plz help?

Well, there's this girl named Melissa who i met on facebook and she's like a week new in my college. Anyways, we started messaging back and forth, and she said hi to me when she saw me in class b/c she recognized me from our messages...anyways...her messages to me were kind of bland, she didn't initiate conversation online, nor did she ask me many questions back. My first question: Why would she go out of her way to say hi to me in person, and not on facebook? Now, i read this conversation between her and another person in my grade...i know its snooping...This guy asked her to hang out (they've never hung out beofre) and she said "sure...this is random but do you know (my name) because he keeps calling me and I don't really know who he is." Now let me set this straight, I asked for her number on facebook so we could chill sometime, and she gave it to me. I called her ONCE, and told her i would like to get to know her. Why would she tell this guy I keep calling her? I don't get it!!!

So confused about this girl in my college wtf?? plz help?
Maybe she's just not comfortable with starting conversations online or on the phone with people she doesn't really know. after all what do parents all tell us about not talking to strangers and the like? It takes some getting used to that in college everybody is a stranger and you have to take the initiative sometimes to get to know people. In my opinion she was fishing for info about you in case that guy was a friend of yours. She just wanted some background. It's a good sign that she's thinking about you and not just blowing you off or something. Try sitting near her in class and start talking about class, the football team, whatever--just make small talk and take it from there. (take a look at my question if you can!)
Reply:dam that is confusing......something like that happened to me too with a guy i knew and it was really annoying but anyways.....girls like to exaggerate things like that to make the situation bigger than it really is ....to answer yourfirst question....maybe she wanted to say hi to you in person because she'd rather talk to you in person than online...but she seems like someone who doesn't really know what she wants because of what shes saying and how she's acting towards you....i think that you could find someone much better and more mature than that...hope you clear up your situation
Reply:She's probally into the other guy and wants him too see that other men are interested in her. She kind of seems like a snob to me you shouldn't waste your time on her.
Reply:Drop that crap dude. Too much P---y in college to play that game.

HELP!! iS ANYONE HERE REALLY GOOD AT STATISTICS!!!! hURRY!!!?

i have my AP stats test tomorrow. I dont understand how to do this. Can you explain.

A large company is considering opening a franchise and wants to estimate the mean househol income for the area using a simple random sample of households. Based on information from a pilot study, the company assumes that the standard deviation of household income is $7,200. Of the following, which is the least number of households that should be surveyed to obtain as estimate that is within $200 of the true mean household income with 95 percent confidence??

a. 75

b.1300

c.5200

d.5500

e.7700

(i dont get how to get the margin of error) please explain too. Thank you SOOOO much!

HELP!! iS ANYONE HERE REALLY GOOD AT STATISTICS!!!! hURRY!!!?
So we know sigma = 7200

For a 95% CI, z = 1.96

CI = mu +/- z * sigma / sqrt(n)

z * sigma / sqrt(n) %26lt;= 200

sqrt(n) %26gt;= 1.96 * 7200 / (200) = 70.56

n %26gt;= 4978.7

n must be at least 4979.

The best answer seems to be 5200.
Reply:75 is the answer. Margin of error ?
Reply:Hi, this link should help you solve this problem. It explains every single step.

If I didnt have a deadline to beat today, i could've explained it myself.

Hope this helps.

Anyone good at Data Management/Probability?

I've got a question I would like answered if anyone is able to.

Candice owns a chocolate shop. One of her most popular products is a box of 40 assorted chocolates, 5 which contain nuts.

a) If a person selects two chocolates at random from the box, what is the probability that:

i) Both chocolates contain nuts?

ii) Atleast one contains nuts

iii) Only one contains nuts

iv) Neither contain nuts

b) Describe how you could stimulate choosing the two chocolates. Outline a method using

i) A manual technique

ii) Appropriate technology

c) Due to the popularity of the chocolates with nuts, Candice is planning to double the number of them in each box. She claims that having 10 of the 40 chocolates contain nuts will double the popularity that one or both of two randomly selected chocolates will contain nuts. Do you agree with her claim? Support your answer with probability calculations.

Thanks!

Anyone good at Data Management/Probability?
a)i) 5C2/40C2 = 10/780=1/78

ii) 1- 5C0x35C2/40C2 =1- 595/780 = 1-119/156 =37/156

iii) 5C1x35C1/40C2 = 175/780 =35/156

iv) 119/156 from ii

b) Take a pack of cards 52 cards - remove all one suit, say Clubs, except for 1 card.

ie you now have 40 cards. Treat the Ace,2,3,4,5 of hearts as the nut chocolates.

Shuffle the cards. Flip the top two.

Count the number of Ace, 2, 3 4,and 5 of hearts in these two cards.

Keep repeating the experiment lots of times.

Using technology.

Create a random number generator that generates integer numbers between 1 and 40.

Generate two numbers.

Treat the numbers 1,2,3,4,5 as the nut chocolates.

etc

c) P(0 nuts) = 10C0x30C2/40C2 = 435/780 = 29/52

ie P(at least 1 nut) = 1-29/52 = 23/52 = 0.4423

With 5 nuts, P(at least 1 nut before ) =37/156 = 0.2371

So she is almost on the money - but not quite - so her claim is incorrect.
Reply:The probability that a randomly selected chocolate contains nuts is 5/40 or .1250.

i) The probability that both randomly selected chocolates contain nuts is ( 5/40 ) ( 4/39 ) = .01282 because the first one contains nuts, and you don't put it back (therefore the trials are not independent), so there are only four chocolates with nuts in the box of thirty-nine.

ii) The probability that "at least one contains nuts" is the probability that one or two contains nuts. This will be the probability that one contains nuts plus the probability that both contain nuts:

(35/40) (5/39) + (5/40) (35/39) + (5/40) (4/39) = .2372

where the first product is the probability that the first chocolate does not have nuts and the second one does, the second product is the probability that the first one does and the second doesn't, and the third product is the probability that the first does and the second does.

iii) The probability that only one contains nuts is the sum of the first two products from above:

(35/40) (5/39) + (5/40) (35/39) = .2244

iv) The probability that neither contain nuts is the probability that the first one doesn't and the second one doesn't

(35/40) (34/39) = .7628

Notice this is the complement of part i) where both contained nuts.

b) To simulate this experiment, I would go buy a box of 40 chocolates and stuff a nut into five of them and then shake the box. Then I would randomly select two and eat them. Seriously, it's kind of a dumb question. I know they're looking for "roll two forty-sided dice and the numbers 1 - 5 represent chocolates with nuts" but eating chocolate is so much better!

c) The probability that one of the two randomly selected chocolates will contain nuts in this new configuration is:

(10/40) (30/39) + (30/40) (10/39) = .3846

and the probability that they both contain nuts is:

(10/40) (9/39) = .0577

Their sum (.4423) is the probability that one or both contain nuts, or at least one contains nuts.

Notice none of these are double their counterparts in the original configuration.

*wowee* that was a long one, man!
