Probability?

Use the Counting Principle:

1. Rolling a 3 on each of two number cubes

2. Choosing the three winning lottery numbers when the numbers are chosen at random from 1 to 50. Numbers can repeat.

Find the probability:

3. You toss tails and roll an even number (when you toss a coin and roll a number cube)

4. You roll two odd numbers and pick a vowel (when you roll two number cubes and pick a letter of the alphabet at random).

Reasoning:

5. You have a bag containing an equal amount of quarters, nickels, and dimes. You reach into the bag an choose a coin. Are all outcomes equally likely? Explain.

Extended:

6. You roll two number cubes. List all possible outcomes. Find the probability of each event.

a. rolling a 1 and 2

b. rolling the same numbers

c. rolling different numbers

Try to explain or show your work

-Thanks!

Probability?
I'll let you do the math. Below is the equation for each:

1. 1/6 * 1/6

2. 1/50 * 1/50 * 1/50

3. 1/2 * 3/6

4. 3/6 * 3/6 * 5/26 (assuming y isn't a vowel)

5. No because a quarter has more surface area than a dime and thus the chances of picking a quarter is more likely.

6a. 1/6 * 1/6 (assuming a 1 first and then a 2 second. If the order is unimportant the answer is 2/6 * 1/6)

6b. 1/6

6c. 5/6

I should get 20 points for all of this!
