This is a SCAM. Check out the below link for confirmation of various scams, including the famous Yahoo/MSN lottery scams and how to report them.

http://www.consumerfraudreporting.org/lo...

Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Just remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace, hopefully along with the thieving scumbags who send them.

.Also If you go to the following link you will get some info on ID theft www.identity-theft.org.uk the iinternet is safe enough if you are careful but please answer nothing that you are doubtful about.Good Luck and be careful.
Reply:Yeah there is an Irish lottery but as with any lottery you have to actually enter and PAY, that's how they generate a cash prize, soooo sorry friend it's just another silly scam.

ps just for info in the run up to Christmas...my neighbour informed me that some people are receiving printed cards through their doors saying that a parcel or mail could not be delivered and the company PDS can be contacted on a number provided...well that's a scam too, there is no parcel and as soon as you phone the number to enquire about your parcel and hear the recorded message you are billed £15 on a premium rate number.

Scams are everywhere, gotta keep your eyes open.
Reply:that email you got is a scam, there is also one going round for the uk lottery
Reply:if you beleive that I have some swamp land in Florida I can sell you
Reply:Variations on this are all over the boards. Some claim to be from Irish Lottery, others Yahoo!

BUT they all read the same!

SCAM
Reply:This comes up very often....if you get an unsolicitated e-mail about being a lottery, I can assure you that 100-percent of the time it is bogus. Because it has all the legal sounding sentences ever found in an e-mail does not make it real.
Reply:Of course there's a lottery in Ireland. And it works the same way lotteries everywhere work: You pick numbers, you pay for your ticket and you watch in disappointment as your numbers don't come up.

Did you pick numbers? Did you buy a ticket? Dear me.
Reply:Scam.
Reply:it ia COMPLETE SPAM. if you haven't participated in the lottery (ie buying the ticket) then it is surely a spam. do not even try to contact them (you may refer with previous yahoo answers that confirm this) since your phone will be automatically billed with ££stg. Besides the data that you give can be used malignently on your behalf.

So please DO NOT FALL A VICTIM!!
Reply:NO! Only you can enter a lottery.
Reply:And make sure you give them your social security number while you're at it.

(Unless if you actually signed up for it, it's a scam.)
Reply:Well, did you took part in this particular lottery contest? If no, then you should know that its a spam, the next thing it might do is spam your email box or request your credit card number, or even hack your computer so they can plant spy ware in it, stealing your personal information and doing other unwanted activities with the particular information. But if you DID took part, then you can think about it again or ask advice from other people to make sure this is a legitimate lottery or a fake one.
